Job Title: Food & Nutrition Services Coordinator
Location: LifeScape

2501 W 26th St / Sioux Falls, SD 57105

Responsibilities:

Supervise day-to-day activities of the 26th Street dietary and kitchen and serve as a Registered Dietitian (RD) and support Food Services for Adult Services (Western Avenue).

·         Collaborates with individual’s team to identify and implement individualized meal/snack plans

in the classrooms and residential areas.

·         Completes nutritional assessments when consulted for adult services.

·         Assists clinical dietitians as needed for children’s services.

·         Participates in multidisciplinary department meetings

·         Writes and approves all menus and snacks to meet National School Breakfast, National School Lunch and Department of Health Guidelines.

·         Collaborates with nursing and physician to initiate and manage Enteral nutrition as needed.

·         Ensures food is prepared and nutritionally adequate in accordance with RDA.

·         Provides training and New Employee Orientation as needed.

·         Participates in Education Wellness Policy Committee.

·         Maintains and updates policies/procedures that govern dietetic and food service activities.

·         Plans and submits annual department budget.

·         Completes required paperwork for payroll and credit card reconciliation, FTE reports, and budget

responsibility statements.

·         Facilitates all aspects of the National School Breakfast and Lunch Programs including: completion and

verification of student applications, filing applications and claims, and performing all administrative duties

as program requires.

 

Supervise and coach direct reports.

·         Monitor and evaluate performance of clinical RD team and Food Service Manager. 

·         Provides nutritional assessments to identify problems and risk factors upon admission, readmission and

monthly thereafter for high risk individuals.

·         Conduct performance reviews.

·         Assist in orientation and training staff.

·         Monitor and staff work schedules.  Approve schedule exceptions.

·         Ensure quality and service standards are met.

·         Provide support for daily questions and concerns.

·         Promote Mission and Core Values.

 

 

 

 

 

                                                     JOB SPECIFICATIONS

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum qualifications include registration with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of

Nutrition and Dietetics, education equivalent to Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics or Institutional Management

or formalized post secondary education program approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics

and current licensure as a Registered Dietitian in the state of South Dakota. Experience with children

and adolescents with developmental delays and other disabilities preferred.  

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

·         Proven supervisory skills.

·         Technological competence to use computers and software utilized by the organization. 

·         Ability to communicate and mentor team building.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work is performed in an office and institutional kitchen environment.  Work involves sitting, standing, walking,

stooping, and bending.  Occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 35 pounds, using proper body

mechanics.  Requires repetitive movements of the wrists, hands and/or fingers. 

 

This position has been evaluated as a Level III in accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health

Administration (OSHA) definition of Occupational Exposure to bloodborne pathogens. 

        Level III:  Positions in this category are not required to perform tasks which involve exposure to blood,

        potentially infectious body fluids, or hazardous waste.
